FILOX IRON & MANGANESE FILTER
Filox-R™ is a specially prepared medium for the reduction of Iron, Hydrogen Sulphide and Manganese. We have found that it out performs the other filter medias that are most commonly used for the treatment of these contaminants. According to the manufacturers specification the media can last up to 20 years.
Filox works on the principle of a catalyst reaction, but itself remains relatively unchanged. This reaction is accompanied with the formation of intermediate compound or compounds, such as higher oxides of manganese. By alternate composition and decomposition of these oxides, the Filox is left unchanged. Filox works on a principle whereby the hydrogen sulfide, iron, and manganese are oxidized and simple back washing cleans the bed.
Filox is very dense and heavy and stops the oxidized form of iron, manganese, and hydrogen sulfide from proceeding any further through the media (anything greater than 20 microns). Since the Filox media is so dense and heavy, high backwash rates are needed to clean the media. No chemical regeneration is required and nothing is imparted into the drinking water.
Filox consists of 75% - 85% Manganese Dioxide. The high Manganese Dioxide content makes the product more effective.
Filox can be used to treat iron in water even if the PH is Low. It works best when aerated before the Filter, this oxidises the Iron, Manganese and Hydrogen Sulphide and stops it travelling through the Media and on into the Drinking Water.
HEXAMETA PHOSPHATE FILTERS
These are a dosing unit allowing the Hexameta Phosphate to coat the CaCo³ (Hardness) particles in the water, in a small amount of phosphate this stops them from sticking to metal such as heating elements like those found in kettles and boilers etc. The hexameta phosphate is contained in a 10” Doser filter housing; it is an alternative to a water softener but does not soften the water.
